I Am Art, You Are Art
Everything is Art, because...
In fact,
Even my TV is art.
And my computer...
And everything around it...
You know what, even...
And so are you.
I was having a Miranda July moment last week [okay slight obsession] that lasted about 168 hours. It started when I literally stumbled upon her website for her book which she created with messages in dry-erase markers. I had heard of her before but hadn't taken the time to look at her work. I was super stressed last week [being the first week back at school and all the business that goes along with that]. I was pretty close to losing it and I had decided in my mind that the only way I was going to be happy was if I could watch the movie "Me and You and Everybody We Know," because, you know, Miranda July probably understands what I'm going through [I kid]. Anyway, that was a big ordeal, but I finally located it. I'm not saying I'm recommending this film to you, in fact, I'm not recommending this film to you. Not everyone will appreciate it [though I did]. What I did want to share with you was what I've been thinking about this week because of Miranda's insane creativity, and that is that everything around us is some kind of art. We could be a Miranda July movie, or someone else's movie for that matter, but the point is, we are interesting. You are interesting.
So, I picked up on her habit of writing on things with dry-erase markers. I totally wanna write on everything. Like making notes to myself:
And reminding myself that life isn't all about the grown up stuff like paying bills and working hard and that I'm...
And may never be.
So, here's your assignment. Write a note on something with a dry-erase marker and share it on this blog. Come on, don't be lazy. Get out there and say somethin'.
This is my number one favorite scene AND it includes a dry-erase marker:
