The Blog That Makes Me Smarter

This blog is the first blog I ever read and it makes me smarter. I read Bitch Ph.D. even though I rarely comment becuase everyone over there is super smart and cheeky. I just wanted to let you know about it so that you can be informed, empowered, and entertained, which is what professor bitch is good at.

Just When I Thought I Was Gonna Get to Be a Slacker...

I got a job! It's two hours away from where I am now, so I've been running like crazy, not to mention, staying at the school until 8 or 9 at night. I was hired 2 days before school started, so I have lots and lots of work to do. My parents live in between where I live now and where my job is, so I've stayed there several nights much to Harriet's dismay. I have, of course, had someone check on her everyday, but she's still freaked out that I've been gone. She hasn't left me alone since I've been back for the weekend.

See?

I'm glad to be home temporarily. I'm stressed out. Not so easy to jump into a position like that, plus I've got other crappy crap going on that's sucking my time as well as the life out of me. I've coped with the stress with 2 episodes of What Not to Wear (hugs for Clinton and Stacy),

a french manicure, coloring my hair, and a new skirt, camisole, pair of pants, two shirts, two necklaces, a bracelet, and a watch all in a days non-work...Oh, and a medium Pizza Hut pizza.

I see several of you have flickr accounts. Frog finally got one, and it looks like veggiebabe4 went wild over there :). Melissa's had one for a while now I think. Awesome! That's "fabulous" ;). Just be aware that flickr can be painfully addictive.

I hope I can get back on both blogger and flickr again soon, but I don't know how it's gonna go. I'll try to tote my lappy and swing by a Panera or somewhere else with Wi-Fi for dinner.

Til next time...

P.S. Zappo says hi. :)

mi vida aburrida

I've been running like crazy.

Guess who managed to come along even though I told him no? The little stowaway.

By the way, the poll results are in. There's a tie between veggiebabe4's Master Teal Von Potato-Noggin and Frog's Mr. Pandoralovsky. I'll probably continue to call him Zappo out of habit or maybe Noggin or Pandy for short, because I'm so lazy. Thanks for sharing your names! :)

Anyway, despite all the running to interviews, I still have no job. As schools are starting, it looks bleak. Let me not be known, however, for being someone who gets discouraged. I've decided to embrace my upcoming wasted year and have bought myself this t-shirt.

It's gonna be a great year.

All Your Jobs Are Belong To Me

i'm trying to tell you something about my life
maybe give me insight between black and white
and the best thing you've ever done for me
is to help me take my life less seriously
it's only life after all

My Life

It's the newest elimination-type, reality-based show, "Who Wants to be a Teacher?" Apparently everybody does.

Here's my dilemma... I'm gonna have a PhD in December which decreases my chance of getting a teaching position. "But principals will want someone who is highly qualified to teach kids." Yeah, I hear ya, but no. Schools are ran on efficiency. With more and more budget cuts, schools are not able to hire me. Most principals refuse to even interview me which really sucks. People constantly ask me why I don't just apply for a university position (which would've been far, far easier for me to get), but it just isn't what I wanna do.

I went to my third interview of the summer today at Fabulous Elementary School with the principal, Ms. Fabulous. The problem is so did at least 10 other people. She literally interviewed all day today. I know it was a good interview, but I still doubt I'll get the job.

It would probably help my chances if I stopped using the word "fabulous" in my interviews. I used it yesterday and told myself not to use it again today, but I did. I couldn't help it though cause I loved this principal. We had an hour-long interview. After she asked me everything she wanted to ask she let me ask her anything I wanted to ask. When she was finished, I just sat back and said, "Well, I gotta tell you, you're hired!" Luckily she found it amusing.

Anyway...I'm lucky to have an awesome family that is so incredibly supportive during this time of hideous transition. I stopped by home yesterday and ran errands with my dad the rest of the day then had dinner with mom, dad, and little sis (9).

Random Conversations With the Fam:

Dad: You know, you've gotta keep a PMA.
Me: PMA? Positive Mental Attitude?
Dad: Yep.
Me: Mom, did you know that was what he meant?
Mom: I had to think about it a minute, but I got it.
(I really had to struggle not to use my new acronym in my interview, cause I think it almost slipped out once.)

Mom: So, how was the riding around with Dad?
Me: Well, Dad was awfully chit chatty. You'd think I was one of his man buddies or somethin'.
(We laughed about "man buddies" probably far longer than we should've.)
